القدماء صنفوا الغرمنت كاثيوبيين (الذي يعني محروقو الوجه)

كتب عالم الفلك الرياضيات والجغرافيا الاغريقي كلاوديوس بطليموس (ولد في القرن الاول بمصر العليا التي كانت تخضع انداك لحكم الرومان) في كتاب الجغرافيا، اعتمادا على الحملات العسكرية الرومانية التي قادها الجنرالين Septimus Flaccus و Suetonius Paulinus، والرحلات التي قام بها المستكشفين الرومانيين Lucius Cornelius Balbus و Julius Maternus : "سكان اثيوبيا الداخلية لا يبعدون كثيرا عن الغرمنت، حيث تفصل بينهما ثلاثة اشهر من المشي. الغرمنت هم انفسهم اثيوبيون ولهم نفس الملك".

Les habitants de l'intérieur de l'Ethiopie ne sont pas assez éloignés des Garamantes pour qu'il y ait trois mois de marche des uns aux autres, les Garamantes étant eux-mêmes des Éthiopiens, et ayant le même roi.

وفي ملحمة "الحرب الاهلية" التي تؤرخ للنزاع الذي نشب بين الجنرالين الرومانيين يوليوس قيصر وبومبي، قدم الشاعر اللاتيني ماركوس انايوس لوكانوس الذي ولد في القرن الاول الميلادي، الغرمنت على انهم محروقين (Garamante perusto) .

هام:

• كالعادة الترجمتين الانجليزية والفرنسية لم تكونا دقيقتين.


• لا داعي للتذكير بان "محروق" كان يستعمله الاغريق (Αἰθίοψ • Aithíops) الرومان (adustus, perusto..) وحتى العرب (أبو الفضل جعفر بن علي الدمشقي خلال وصفه لسكان خط الاستواء.. الخ) لنعت أشد البشر سوادا.


• من خلال قراءة النص يتأكد جليا بان القدماء كانوا يقدمون سكان شمال افريقيا على انهم شعوب واعراق من اصول مختلفة.

واورد عالم النحو اللاتيني غايوس يوليوس سولينوس في كتاب عجائب العالم، مايليː "الغرمنت الاثيوبيين لا يعرفون الزواج، المجتمع النسوي عرف في البلد. وهكذا الامهات لوحدهن يعترفن بأولادهن، لقب الاب الشرفي لا يطبق على اي احد. من يمكنه اذا تمييز الاب في وسط عادات كهذه؟....".

Les Éthiopiens Garamantes ne connaissent pas le mariage ; la communauté des femmes est un usage du pays. Ainsi les mères seules reconnaissent leurs fils ; le titre honorable de père n'est applicable à aucun. Qui pourrait, en effet, distinguer un père au milieu d'une pareille licence de mœurs? Aussi les Éthiopiens Garamantes passent ils pour un peuple dégénéré, et il juste titre, puisque, par suite de cette promiscuité , le nom de la famille se perd tristement.

ومن قرا تاريخ هيرودوت سيعرف بان المؤرخ الاغريقي قد اشار في الكتاب الرابع الى ان رجال شعب الاوزيانس (Auseans) الذي كان يقطن على ضفاف شط الجريد بتونس يتشاركون النساء ولا يتزوجوا بهن ويعاشروهن كالحيوانات.. وبان النساء يتكفلن بتربية الابناء الى ان يكبروا ثم ينسب الطفل الى الرجل الذي يشبهه اكثر.

". 

The Etymologies of Isidore of Seville 

There are three tribes of Ethiopians: Hesperians, Garamantes, and Indians. Hesperians are of the West, Garamantes of Tripolis, and the Indians of the East. The Trochodites (i.e. Troglodytes) are a tribe of Ethiopians so called because they run with such speed that they chase down wild animals on foot. The Pamphagians are also in Ethiopia. Their food is whatever can be chewed, and anything living that they come upon whence they are named. Icthyophagians, who excel in fishing at sea and survive on fish alone...

جدير بالذكر أن من بين الاسماء التي تطلق على شعب التبو اسم "Gorane"، كما ان هناك شعب يعمر جنوب اثيوبيا والصومال وشمال كينيا يطلق عليه "Garri".
